Green Roof installations are becoming evermore popular, for many reasons. Ecological issues and Environmental responsibility are high on everybody’s agenda these days, utilisation of otherwise redundant spaces often plays a part, whilst simply offering a greater diversity for design and architectural flair can be reason enough on its own.
Many of the most respected manufacturers of roofing materials and systems now offer Green Roofing systems in their products and systems portfolio. At Robseal we do not design Green Roofing systems, we install them.
There are many generic types of green roof to choose from before the type of system needs to be defined. ‘Intensive Roof Gardens’ facilitate accessible gardens with a myriad of design opportunities. ‘Biodiverse Systems’ are designed to contribute towards a balanced maintenance of local flora and fauna, whilst ‘Extensive Systems’ provide cost-efficient roof coverings requiring minimal maintenance.
At Robseal we have installed them all, using systems designed by most of the leading product manufacturers. Far be it for us to say but they invariably all do the job they are designed to do, with different systems being designed for different applications. All however depend critically on the quality of installation or all too soon a magnificent concept can become a somewhat of a nightmare.
The key to a successful green roof is that it should be self sustaining, aesthetically pleasing and 100% efficient as a roof. We work closely with system manufacturers, landscape gardeners and horticulturalists, architects and building owners to ensure that the finished roof embodies all the qualities that were first envisaged.
